Welcome to the ultimate swing dance experience in the UK. GNSH (Goodnight Sweetheart) has been quoted as perhaps one of the largest and friendliest swing dance camps in the UK, running every February. It marks the beginning of the swing dance calendar, attracting the next generation of swing dancers.
GNSH is dedicated to promoting African-American vernacular dances from the jazz era and has a top line up of International Teachers. In 2011 we attracted over 500 dancers of all levels from 5 continents and over 30 different countries for 3 days of workshops and all night dancing, till 7:00am.
Workshops are primarily in Lindy Hop, Balboa and Authentic Jazz, with a wide range of tasters in Shag, Laminu, Tap, Charleston, Blues, Aerials, Tango, Hip Hop, boogie etc and are all held in one location, the magnificent "Haileybury", in Hertford, Hertfordshire, UK, which is located within 50mins drive from London Luton, Stansted or Heathrow airports for convenience. <<view what others have said about the weekend.
FORMAT OF EVENT:
The camp has three days with social dancing each night from Friday to Sunday. Plus there's an optional pre-GNSH Party Night at our local class venue on Thursday. At GNSH 2012 we plan for 7 levels of lindy hop classes ranging from Improvers to Advanced, Advanced Plus and invitational Teachers and competitor levels, 2 levels of Balboa and Authentic Jazz, along with many other taster classes, allowing dancers to choose which class they prefer to take during the three days. Whatever you choose, you'll have 3 - 6 classes per day, if required. Although some decide to focus on less classes, so they can dance very late throughout the weekend. g

We recommend taking Friday and Monday morning off work, as we plan to start classes on Friday afternoon, followed by the welcome party, with live band and DJ's from all over the globe. On Saturday we resume workshops and complete the day with the Valentines Dinner and 1940's Ball, featuring cabaret entertainment. Last year we danced until 7:30am, but you can dance right through the night if you have the energy.
Sunday classes are followed by our 'Last Supper', followed by the Farewell Party, featuring "The Euro Lindy Hop Competition"a live band, to practice all that you've learnt and dance all night untill the last person leaves the floor or we have run out of DJ's or people or until breakfast is ready.
