One of the high points of the whole weekend is the " 1940's GNSH Dinner and Ball" on the Saturday evening. Going since 2002, this is a sophisticated event, where absolutely everyone (ok, there's always a few!) dresses up in their finest period attire for a fabulous evening of dinner and dancing. Last year, some danced till after 8:00am.
THE GNSH DINNER - 7:30PM - 9:00PM
Once you've accomplished your Saturday workshops, we'll take care of organising your food for the evening. Dinner and lunch at GNSH is highly sociable, so even if you come on your own, you'll leave with lots of friends!
On the menu is a 3 course dinner, served in the grand 'Harry Potter' dining room, cooked by some of the UK's finest chefs, allowing you to indulge in as little or as much as you can manage. If you are lucky enough, you might just find a selection of your favourite scrumptious desserts to choose from. See Meals..
How many times have you left an event without speaking to your friends, because you were too busy on the dance floor? This gives you time to relax, chat and eat with some of your international friends, that you may not have seen since last GNSH, in a nice atmosphere.
NB: Please note that there will be pre-dinner drinks available from a licensed bar.
1940'S GNSH BALL- 9:30PM - 5:00AM.
This is the evening of all evenings! The Grandest Swing Ball of the year.. In the grandest building..
There is no other all night event like this in the UK. Just come dressed to kill in your period attire and be prepared to party all night long. Once your food has settled, it's off to the main ballroom, to dance it all off.
The evening includes live entertainment, with a top Swing Band and the Teachers Cabaret followed by TWO ROOMS offering alternative music and non-stop dancing until 5:00am or longer subject to DJ's or peoples legs.
THE SATURDAY SWING BAND - 9:30PM
This year, we are entertained by some of the best musicians on the international circuit, playing the best of Count Basie, Artie Shaw and Goodman, etc..
THE TEACHERS CABARET - 10:30PM
This is the time to watch the teachers do what they do best.
DRESS CODE:
